Abstract

This paper comprehensively reviewed four important technology acceptance models, including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM2), the Model of the Determinants of Perceived Ease of Use, and the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3), and deeply analyzed their different strengths and limitations. It also analyzed and discussed recent applications of TAM and TAM3 in educational empirical studies. This review contributes to the existing literature by clarifying different theoretical models in the field of technology adoption and use and guiding future researchers to find research gaps and directions.
